In a unexpected crossover event that challenges usual predictions, Ubisoft has unveiled an virtual collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual Thanksgiving event runs from November 25 through December 22, providing no-cost extra story content for Shadows players.

Mysterious Adventure Disclosed

According to the official release, "An unusual meeting draws characters Naoe and Yasuke into a new adventure, where hints of prohibited practices and fearsome transformations resonate through the obscurity." The storyline introduces a "oddly garbed woman named Ada" who charges the pair with traveling into the Gemstone Grotto—a important location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her ally from a secret cult.

The adventure focuses on "strange tests and a terrifying enemy" and is open to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.

Recognizable Places and Metamorphoses

The teaser features the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was formerly where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through ages. The trailer finishes with a dramatic scene showing a character, probably the captive, changing into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.

Exclusive Items and Additional Content

Players who successfully complete the quest will receive an exclusive katana in addition to several objects concealed throughout the area in concealed chests. The update also includes premium Attack on Titan item packs, including:

• Titan-based attire for Yasuke
• Mikasa outfit for Naoe
• Special implements
• Survey Corps mount

Newest Free Story Addition

This release also brings the game's third free story addition, titled "The Mystery." This humorous mission teams Naoe and Yasuke as they swap signature abilities: Naoe introduces a theatrical interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns non-lethal stealth takedowns. True to its name, "The Enigma" also features a new environmental puzzle that may eventually shed light on some unanswered questions from the main storyline.

Past Japanese Animation Crossovers

This represents hardly the initial time the Assassin's Creed franchise has collaborated with popular anime franchises. The series earlier included a 2020 crossover story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Additionally, Valhalla informally contained a quest that obviously referenced the well-known series One-Punch Man.
